Great White Egret Spotted
Three weeks ago, and angler at Keynes Country Park reported and unconfirmed sighting of a 'Great White Egret' on lake 31.
The Great White Egret is one of Europe's most graceful looking birds due to its impressive size and pure white plumage. The Egret breeds in extensive areas of reeds, usually by large shallow lakes, both of which are features of lake 31.
The Great White Egret can normally found in the warmer waters of Australasia and Indonesia and is a rare visitor to Britain. The last sighting on Gloucestershire was back in 2003.
